ideas for writing sales letters: |
[1] The 10 most used 2 letter words: “if it is to be, it is up to
me”
[2]
Headline your message: Headlines and sub lines get attention
if your headline does
not grab, your reader goes elsewhere.
[3] Its NOT too long,
it is NOT short, it is INTERESTING! Whether your letter is 1
page or 16 pages, there is no difference between the length, a letter is either
interesting or not!
[4] Just the facts
please!: Humans are attracted to facts & figures, so use numbers in your letters
to give the reader a reason to believe you! Use facts & figures to prove your message is true.
[5] Talk “with”
your reader: Selling is done with dialogue NOT monologue. The
best sales reps
listen 2/3rds of the time, in your letter ask questions and
encourage dialogue, share a story, weave a theme, be
interesting and make your point. Talking WITH the reader
always works.
[6] Write to be read:
Your opening paragraph should have no more than 11 words, the
second paragraph no more than 50 words, why? To pull your
reader to get
started, use 11/12 point fonts, indent paragraphs and have a
P.S. about your
benefits at the end.
[7]A.F.T.O. and make
it easy to say yes!: Ask for the order, be specific, ask your
reader for
action, visit, accept a trial, or check your website, you must do it! Options for a response should
be multiples, the
more the better. [Mail, email, pager, fax, visit, web etc]
[8]Write today, edit
tomorrow: Think , plan, & organise is a great beginning
structure, but think plan and revise , revise, revise, is how
to get a close! Speed through your first draft and then the next day revise, revise ,revise, you will make it
better, then when you think you have got it read it out aloud
and then revise the words to create interesting conversation with your
reader.
